It’s time once again for our New Music Awards Nominations Special Edition. Over the past month we’ve had an open ballot which allowed our New Music Weekly subscribers and the music fans to have a hand once again in our nomination process. The outpouring in the participation process has been quite overwhelming and we are so thankful for the support we have received during this early award season.
New Music Weekly once again is honoring the top major recording artists for the work they’ve done over the past 12 months. In addition, we are also honoring many of the best independent artists and bands that have shown great promise as they continue to build and strengthen their future at radio. Many of the nominated artists have been charted via our Top40, Country and our AC40 radio music charts. For our New Music Awards, we have also nominated radio stations, music and program directors. Afterall, they are truly the life of our music industry and without them we would not be able to do what we do here with our publication. Also, numerous industry professionals are singled out they really deserve your ongoing support.
Getting back to our major recording artist nominees, it won’t be out of the question to see Adele on that list. She came back just at the right time and has been pulling in numerous award nominations across the board to no one’s surprise. Her come back single “Easy On Me” has ranked #1 on most of the music charts out there from Top40 & Hot AC. Adele recently locked up numerous wins at the British Music Awards and that has set the table that it should be a bountiful award season for her at best. We only hope that she can get her live performance situation worked out, as many were pretty disappointed by the bail out in Las Vegas.
Independent music artists abound during this year’s New Music Awards. All you have to do is look closely at the charts in this issue to see how many indie acts are doing well at radio. Many artists on small labels have found a true friend in New Music Weekly and we are happy to be there to lend a helping hand, especially those that truly deserve special attention. Please take a look at the artists that took the time to run special advertising in this particular issue. They went out of their way to try and garner added support from fans, radio and the industry alike.
Now that the nominations have been revealed, it’s time to move nominees into the winner’s circle. Much like we have done with the initial nomination process, an open ballot listing all the nominees is now ready for your votes. It will be open to our subscribers and to music fans that can now lend a hand of moving these nominees into winners. So far, the count has been massive and we can see a huge participation that allows us to understand that people are taking this process quite seriously. We hope to have the final tally over the next few weeks but please be patient as it already appears that we will end up with a record number of votes that we’ll need to go through.
The NMA’s is also our opportunity to help “level the playing field” by giving independent artists and bands the same chance that the major label artists get when it comes to music awards. Our New Music Weekly family still delivers the very best “tools of the trade” when it comes to helping break new singles and artists. Though our unique STS tracking systems we are able to keep a close watch on all of the radio spins and activity and we bring you the final charts each and every week from Country, Top40 to Hot AC. We would like to congratulate all of our nominees and we look forward to revealing the outcome as soon as all of the votes are in. Thanks for your patience and your ongoing support.
